Early Life and Amateur Career
Vladimir Klichko was born on March 25, 1976, in Semipalatinsk, Kazakhstan.
His initial interest in combat sports led him to pursue boxing seriously, where his skills soon surpassed those of his older brother. By the age of seventeen, he had already won the European junior championship, and subsequently became a five-time Ukrainian boxing champion, the World Military Heavyweight Champion (1995), and the silver medalist at the 1996 European Championships.
