We are a partnership between The Aurora Trust, The JJ Charitable Trust, and The Mark Leonard Trust, three of the Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts.

We formed the Collaboration in 2011 in response to the growing urgency of climate change.

For each trust, income from grant-making comes from the return on investment from its investment portfolios and donations from the chairs of the trust.

Butler-Sloss Judgement

The trustees of the Aurora and Mark Leonard Trusts obtained legal clarity at the High Court on trustee investment duties.

Previously, there was a lack of clarity on how charities managed conflicts between holding investments in companies which conflicted with their charitable work and the potential financial return.

The trustees wanted to adopt investment policies which aligned their portfolios with the Paris Agreement but were unsure if the previous legal framework enabled them to do so.

The Butler-Sloss judgement confirmed the trustees could adopt these pol
